Staff Triumph Again Against Albion Kicks

25th October 2015, it was the turn off the kicks young people to take on the Kicks staff in another game. The atmosphere was tense as everyone started to arrive at St Michaels Learning Campus, Kicks young people looking to restore the upper hand after staff won the previous game.

After a quick chat from the referee, the game was swiftly underway with the Kicks young people starting it off. It was a lively start to the game with the young people trying to keep hold of the ball however pressure from the staff proved to be too much for the young people with staff managing to take the ball and start to pass it around.

It was a close fought contest with some good tackles and some excellent football on display from both young people and staff, this tempo continued for the first 20 minutes of the game which finally resulted in the deadlock being broken by the staff going 1-0 ahead.

The first half continued to be competitive with young people having some very good attacking play and testing the staff team’s resolve at the back, however the staff managed to get a second goal due to some excellent link up play from Luke & Dean down the left hand side before a composed finish. The game continued with the same tempo up to half time, close battles all over the pitch with the young people getting the better of the chances but not quite being able to finish them off.

Shortly after a brief interval, the teams were both back out and ready to take part in the second half, it took a short while for the teams to get back into the same tempo as the first half however staff managed to capitalise on the slow start and scored again thanks to Harley which then took the score to 3-0.

After the third goal, the game opened up which led to staff conceding a goal from some well worked play from the young people down the right hand side. This continued as the young people bought the score back to 3-2.

The event ended with handshakes and smiles all around there were also some good comments from the young people “I love being able to take part in events like this” & “I hope we get to play the staff again”.
