Job Vacancy: Inspire Coach

 ‘Inspire’ Staff – Education and Engagement team 
Salary Range – £16,000 – £19,000
Contract – one year in the first instance
(Please note that this position is not a football or sports coaching job vacancy)

 The Albion Foundation (Registered Charity: 1081948) is an established and successful provider of Sports and Education programmes.

It’s Education and Inclusion team is developing and is seeking to appoint a number of new staff who can ‘Inspire to Achieve’.  

We are looking for people who have a genuine interest in working with young people who may:

  • Be underachieving
  • Display challenging behaviour
  • Have special educational needs
  • Have a chaotic family life
  • Be poor attenders at school
  • Be in care
  • Find mainstream education difficult
  • Be at risk of permanent exclusion
  • Struggle to secure post – 16 education, employment and training

The role:

Reporting to senior staff within the Education and Engagement team– the successful candidates will be responsible for:

  • Using the kudos of West Bromwich Albion Football Club you will engage those deemed ‘hard to reach’, at risk of and excluded  from school,
  • Supporting young people either on their mainstream school sites or at The Albion Foundation School for Alternative Provision,
  • Working one to one with identified young people who need targeted intervention, 
  • Leading small group lessons that engage, enthuse and progress young people,
  • Supporting a variety of different subjects and sessions,
  • Leading in a curriculum area where you feel most comfortable and developing high quality curriculum linked schemes of work,
  • Support the delivery of one evening session  per week and relevant holiday and match day programmes,
  • Reporting on progress to both partner schools and parents / carers,
  • Contribute to measuring the impact of these programmes including inputting data into VIEWS,
  • Contribute to the sustainability and further development of these programmes through high quality delivery and a professional approach.


  • Will have a track record of working with a range of young people in a variety of settings
  • Will be outstanding at engaging with all young people and will have the ability to gain their respect quickly.  In turn you will understand their circumstances and barriers to learning and will assist them to overcome these using a non-judgemental approach
  • Will have a passion for working with young people with challenging circumstances
  • Will understand the importance of evaluation and how to demonstrate the positive impact you will make
  • Will be confident and experienced to work across multi projects, settings and teams
  • Will possess all 11 of The Albion Foundation’s Core Values
