Player Development Centres (PDCs) and our Player Development Academy (PDA) are part of the new Player Pathway which has been created by The Albion Foundation, designed to enhance the development of players aged 4-7 years (Pre-Academy), 8-11 years (Foundation Phase) and 12-14 years (Youth Development Phase).
These advanced coaching centres are delivered by our highly qualified coaches and have a technical and tactical focus that mirrors the West Bromwich Albion Academy Curriculum, designed by the Head of Academy.
Training takes place during term time on an evening with matches being played during school holidays. Our PDC teams will play against other clubs PDCs and our own clubs Advanced Development Centre.
PDC’s are not intended to stop players from playing for their local club but are an opportunity to gain extra contact time on the grass to help them improve as footballers.
PDC’s have been given the backing of West Bromwich Albion’s Academy and players are expected to move through the pathway into the WBA Development Centres with the intention of the boys to sign for the clubs Academy teams. PDC do not promise that players will sign for the club’s Academy; it is there to help players reach their full potential.
During the season, each player will receive termly reports on their progress across two areas, technical and tactical, along with areas to improve on.
